Terms of Service

The agreement between you and The Omnia Theatre for the use of Ptolemy Studio. Written to be read.

These terms apply when you use Ptolemy Studio at ptolemy.studio. By signing in you agree to them. If you do not, do not sign in — and if a clause here does not work for your production, write to ptolemy@omniatheatre.com before you upload anything rather than after.

1. Your work stays yours

You keep every right you already have in everything you upload or create here: your screenplay, your treatment, your characters, your breakdown, your budget, your schedule. Nothing in these terms transfers any of it to us, and nothing here gives us a right to exploit, publish, licence or sell it.

You grant us one narrow permission, and only for as long as you keep the content here: to store it, to show it back to you and to the people you have shared it with, and to transmit the part a feature needs to the AI providers named in the Privacy Policy — solely to produce the output you asked for. That permission ends when you delete the content.

We do not use your creative work to train, fine-tune or evaluate any AI model. The Privacy Policy says the same thing in more detail, and it is the same promise.

2. What the AI gives you is a draft

Ptolemy Studio produces breakdowns, beat analyses, shot lists, concept art and derived production paperwork using AI models. Those outputs are drafts. They can be wrong, and they can be confidently wrong. A human who knows the production must check them before anyone spends money, signs a deal memo, or asks a crew to stand somewhere.

Two limits of the current product, stated here rather than discovered on a shoot day: budget cost estimates are not available — elements are classified by department, but the product does not price them, because it has no verified rate authority for most rates. And the timeline it produces is a heuristic phase estimate from page count and breakdown elements. It is not a shooting schedule.

As between you and us, whatever the models return from your material is yours. We make no claim to it. We also cannot tell you that AI output is protectable by copyright — in several countries it may not be — and we do not warrant that it is.

3. Your account

• Sign-in is with Google and nothing else. Keeping your Google account secure is your responsibility, and anyone who can sign in as you can reach your work.
• An account is for one person. Give your collaborators their own by inviting them to your organisation.
• You must be old enough to enter a binding contract where you live. Ptolemy Studio is a professional tool and is not for children.
• Tell us promptly at ptolemy@omniatheatre.com if you believe someone else has reached your account.

4. Organisations and the people you add

Work lives in an organisation. Its owners and administrators can invite people, set their roles, and see and delete the organisation’s data. If you are an owner or administrator, the people you admit can reach what their role allows, and removing someone is your action to take.

If you enter information about other people — crew names, email addresses, phone numbers, rates — you confirm that you are entitled to do so and that you will handle it properly. That obligation is yours, not ours, and the Privacy Policy sets out what it means in practice under Canadian privacy law.

5. What you may not do

• Upload material you do not have the right to upload, or use the service to infringe somebody else’s rights.
• Use it to break the law, or to harass or endanger anyone.
• Attempt to reach another customer’s data, to bypass the permission system, or to probe or disrupt the service.
• Resell access, or run the service on someone else’s behalf as though it were yours.
• Upload malware, or anything designed to damage the service.

6. Share links

You can turn on a public read-only link for a project. When you do, anybody holding that URL can read the project without signing in. That is what the feature is for, and it is your decision to make. Archiving the project suspends the link and turning sharing off revokes it.

7. Production attribution & screen credits ("Made with Ptolemy Studio")

If you develop, author, break down, or produce a commercial film, television episode, web series, podcast, video game, or theatrical production using Ptolemy Studio, you agree to include an attribution screen credit in the project's end credits or closing roll, formatted as:

Similar to regional and technology production credits (such as Creative BC, Telefilm Canada, or game engine credits), this attribution helps sustain our sovereign creator ecosystem. Official high-resolution animated and static credit badges are available in our Press & Brand Kit. Studio subscribers may request a credit waiver by written agreement.

8. Plans and payment

There is a Free tier that needs no credit card. The paid plans, their posted prices and how each one is billed are listed below. THESE ARE NOT TYPED INTO THIS PAGE: they are read from the same plan catalogue the storefront prints and the server enforces against, so a price shown in the Terms cannot disagree with the price you are charged.

• Creator’s — C$99 /mo
• Producer — C$649 /mo
• Indie — C$999 /mo
• Studio — Per seat /mo
• Patron of the Art — C$10,000 once

All prices in Canadian dollars (CAD). C$ means Canadian dollars, not US dollars. Payment is taken through Stripe. You can cancel a recurring plan at any time from the billing portal in your account; cancelling stops future charges and leaves the current period running to its end.

Studio is quoted rather than posted, and is arranged by writing to us. A tier that is billed once rather than monthly is marked as such in the list above, and is not a subscription.

We will tell you before a change to what you pay takes effect on your account, and you can cancel rather than accept it.

9. Refunds

Payments already made are not refundable, except where the law requires a refund. That is the current position, plainly stated so nobody has to guess at it. It is also not the position we want to hide behind: if the product failed you, write to ptolemy@omniatheatre.com and tell us what happened. We would rather fix it or return your money than keep it on a technicality.

10. Availability, and keeping your own copies

Ptolemy Studio is early software and is provided as it is. We do not promise any level of uptime, we offer no service-level agreement, and features can change or be withdrawn.

11. Ending it

You can stop using Ptolemy Studio at any time, cancel your plan from the billing portal, and ask us to delete your account by writing to ptolemy@omniatheatre.com. There is no self-serve account deletion yet; a person does it and confirms when it is done. The Privacy Policy explains exactly what a deletion does and does not reach.

We may suspend or close an account for non-payment, or for a serious or repeated breach of these terms. Except where the breach makes it unsafe or unlawful to wait, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right, and we will give you a reasonable opportunity to export your work.

12. Disclaimer

To the fullest extent the law allows, Ptolemy Studio is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any output it produces is accurate, complete or fit for a particular production. Nothing in these terms excludes any right you have under consumer protection law that cannot be excluded.

13. Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, neither party is liable to the other for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits, lost production time or lost data. Our total liability arising out of or relating to Ptolemy Studio is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Again, nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of British Columbia have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer somewhere else, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory laws of the place you live.

15. Changes to these terms

When these terms change, this page changes and the date at the top moves. We do not run a mailing list, so we cannot promise to email you — that date is the signal. If a change materially affects you and you do not accept it, cancel; that is the remedy we can honestly offer today.
